Last June, I went on a long weekend to Amsterdam with my school and I never got round to posting what I got up to. So, in this post, I am going to share some of the highlights from my short trip.
Hotel and Local Area
I stayed in the Eastern Docklands area at a Stayokay Hotel. After checking in, we had a wander around as the weather was so lovely. It was really exciting seeing the similarities and differences between living in the UK and the Netherlands.
NEMO Science Centre
One of the first places we went to was the NEMO Science Centre. I really enjoyed going here because it was so interactive and I had so much fun using all the equipment. We also stayed here for lunch and sat on the roof terrace which has a marvellous view of the Oosterdok.
Windmills at the Zaanse Schans
In the afternoon, we visited the Windmills at the Zaanse Schans. It was so peaceful and really relaxing to just walk around and gaze at some of Amsterdam’s history.
To finish off the first full day, we went on a canal tour which took an hour, showing us all the sites to see in Amsterdam by water.
Duinrell Amusement Park
The entire second day was spent at Duinrell Amusment Park. I loved how everything looked and even though I did not go on many rides, I still had a great time.
On the way back, we stopped off in Bruges. It was so sunny and the architecture from the old and new was fascinating to see.
I enjoyed my trip to Amsterdam a lot despite how short it was. I hope to go back soon to see some of the attractions and sites I missed, such as the Anne Frank House.
